Hometown:  I grew up in Edinburg, N.D., a town with about 300 residents about 30 minutes from the Canadian border in the northeast corner of the state.

I chose to work at the Legislature to experience a new challenge. I worked in the construction industry for 20-plus years, including doing electrical upgrade projects at the Capitol building. The operation of this building did not disappoint.

I actually stumbled into public service by chance. I have always loved living in Mississippi, so when my previous employer informed me that my position with the company would require me to relocate to the Florida Panhandle, I knew immediately...

It’s fascinating to watch the legislative process unfold. My passion is to help people, and if my ability to help legislators and staff understand the applications and tools that we provide, then that’s a win in my book!  

I’ve staffed legislatures for 24 regular sessions, including 16 sessions for the Kansas Legislature in its Legislative Research Department and eight sessions for the South Dakota Legislature in its Legislative Research Council.
